Our Vision - ‘Building a community in the mountains and beyond, that draws people to the life-changing love of Jesus.’

Altitude Mission is a team effort, bringing together many different people and organisations with years of experience. Each week our Altituders (with us for a season), Ski and Servers (with us for a short stay) and resident chaplains work together to fulfil the mission that we have been called to in Meribel.

 
 

Our existence in Meribel enables us to be a vital presence to those in need. With young people working and holidaying in the Alps they are frequently exposed to situations they might otherwise choose not to encounter such as; Job loss and contractual complications - Away from home for the first time - Injuries - Excessive drug and alcohol use - Relationship breakdowns - Emotional and mental upset - Loneliness. Altitude Mission is the place of respite in these times by providing community, love and support that often can’t be found elsewhere. Through this, we hope to change people’s perceptions of what church is, who God is, and what Christians are like.

 

ACHIEVING ALTITUDE’S MISSION

 

WELCOME

  • Open house nights, catering for 60+ people each week Chalet Altitude offers free Burgers and Beers, providing opportunity to build relationships with seasonnaires and explore faith.

  • Refuge Beds -  We provide beds for those that need rescuing in tough situations. From those that have lost their jobs and have to leave their accommodation instantly, to individuals living in intolerable circumstances, we get people back on their feet and help them move forward.

SHARE 

  • Church in Meribel’s alpine chapel every Sunday; a friendly welcome, lively worship, and a relevant gospel message.

  • Worship in the chalet and on the mountain.

  • Creating an accessible, relaxed environment for fellowship by hosting free Coffee and Croissants at a slope side restaurant followed by Team Ski, allowing us to deepen relationships throughout resort.

  • Being witnesses of our faith.

SERVE 

  • Ski Angels - You’ve all heard of street pastors, now put two sticks on their feet and onto the snow and that’s who we are. Working closely with La Folie Douce and the Rond Point bars this is one of our main missional outreaches. 

  • Pastoral support - Our chaplains and seasonal Altituders willingly offer their prayers and support over the season. The Seasonnaires recognise the loving nature of our team, our chalet and the safe space that it is. 

 
 
 

CHALET ALTITUDE

Chalet Altitude is a 28 bed ski chalet located in Meribel Centre, just a few minutes’ walk from the slopes - Catering 6 days a week serving breakfast, afternoon tea and a 2-course dinner prepared by our resident cook. There is a spacious dining room, comfortable living area with an open fire place ready for worship nights, bible studies and cosy nights in.

The chalet is equipped with 11 ensuite twin bedrooms, free wifi and our prayer room is a great place to cover the mission and resort in prayer.  Along with those staying in the chalet, we are always welcoming seasonnaires and people from resort to the chalet where they can feel comfortable and at home throughout the day.
