Ski & Server FAQS
Got some questions about what a stay with us looks like? Have a look at some of the frequently asked questions below.
-
We always make sure you have plenty of time for skiing. You can always get first lifts and ski till your heart sings and your legs are jelly! The Trois Vallées is the largest ski area in the world, with 600km of slopes to explore and we just love to get out and enjoy God’s creation. There’s skiing for all standards from beginner to off-piste. You can ski with us, with your friends, or head off solo for a bit of one-to-one ski time with God.
What happens if I don’t ski?
Well, if you are visiting on your own and are a beginner we advise that you book lessons so that you can make the most of your time on the mountains. We would recommend Parallel Lines. They offer ski and snowboard lessons for adults and children. Private, off-piste lessons and more are also available if that's preferable.
There is also so much to do outside of the realm of skiing. You could get a pedestrian pass (92.50€ for 6 days) and go for hikes or simply enjoy the views at the top.

Chalet Altitude is a homely 22-bed chalet in the centre of Meribel, with beds each week from Saturday - Saturday available for Ski & Servers.
Remember to pack your slippers - the floors can get pretty chilly.
You’ll share with another Ski & Server in a twin room with an en-suite shower-room and toilet. You’ll live in community with the Altituders and the Altitude Team. The chalet has easy access to the slopes, either by bus or it’s a five minute walk. We eat breakfast and dinner all together six days a week and you’ll find a cake waiting for you after skiing each day. There is a chalet rest day when you can help yourself to breakfast, and enjoy a dinner out, or leftovers. You have the option to make a baguette sandwich each day for lunch at a cost of £4 (cheapest lunch on the mountain!).
-
If you’d prefer to do things your way, or if we’re already full, there’s plenty of accommodation available in Meribel from basic self-catered apartments, to full-on luxury catered chalets with hot-tubs. Whatever you choose, you can join us for dinner, for worship, for church, and enjoy being part of a Christian community whilst on your skiing holiday. We have a vision that Meribel would become the place for Christians to gather and ski together.
-
If you’re here on Short Term Mission and staying with us at Chalet Altitude you’ll be a Ski & Server. And, as the name suggests, that means you’re here to both Ski and to Serve. What does serving look like at Chalet Altitude? This depends on you and your gifts. It could be joining our worship team, helping wash up after dinner, or maybe lead a Bible study. Perhaps you’re a BBQ wizard and would help flip 200 burgers for our legendary Beer & Burgers evening. There are so many ways to serve, and we’ll contact you before your trip to find out where you’d like to help.
-
You’re here to Ski & Serve, and the clever thing is, doing that will replenish your spirit. But just to make sure you get fully topped up, there’s plenty of worship, prayer and Bible time too. We kickstart each week with communion and worship, we worship at church, we worship in our upper room by the fireside, we gather each morning before breakfast for bible and prayer time, we eat together in community, and we spend loads of time in fellowship. You’ll go home with your spirit simply soaring.

Ski and Serve Mission – You can stay for one or many weeks, subject to us having availability. Accommodation is in twin rooms, with en-suite shower rooms. Accommodation is half board, with Breakfast, Afternoon tea and 2 Course Dinner provided 6 days a week. We ask for a contribution to cover our chalet rent, utility bills and food costs.
Ski and Serve Mission contribution - The minimum contribution we require is £750 per week per person which is the basic price to stay at Chalet Altitude and covers the cost of our rent, utility bills and food. If you are joining us at all this winter and need to know how to get to us you’ve come to the right place! It can be a little confusing to work out how to get to us if you’ve never been before. Wherever and however you are travelling in make sure you’re aiming for:
Chalet Altitude,
Impasse Plan du Moulin,
Meribel,
73550
We are located in the town of Meribel - not Meribel Mottaret or Meribel Village. If you have multiple stop options then choose Meribel Centre and let us know you’re there and we can send a member of the team down to help with your bags if you’d like.
Driving: If you are intending on driving out simply aim for our address and make sure you comply with French driving laws (information can be found here). We do have parking allocated to us, but make sure to make us aware you are driving out so that we can clear some snow to make space for you.
Flying: Our closest airports are Geneva (Switzerland), Grenoble, Chambéry, and Lyon. From there you can either book a private transfer (such as AET or TTV), hop on a coach (Altibus, or Bens Bus), or take the train to our nearest transport hub: Moutiers. If your ride takes you only as far as Moutiers then you’ll need another lift to get up the mountain to us. Taxis and Altibus offer this.
Train: The nearest train station is Moutiers. After that you’ll need another lift to get up the mountain to us. Taxis and Altibus offer this.
You can arrive anytime on your arrival day however we cannot promise your room will be ready until the afternoon; normally 16:00.
On your leaving day you are more than welcome to either hang around the chalet, or go out and about and leave your stuff in a safe place in the chalet until you depart, we just ask that you be out of your room by 10:00.

We have merch that you can buy online or in resort - but you’ll have to be quick, they sell fast! And we can’t guarantee they will still be there by the time you’re in resort.
