meet the team
Altitude Mission is overseen by our board of Trustees. The day-to-day running of Altitude during the winter season is done by our staff and Altituders. Our Altituders are with us for the whole season, and help to run and initiate all the mission projects. Finally, our Chaplains join us for a week or two at a time, to minister, serve, encourage, and mentor.
EMILY BEARD (chair)
Emily is an Altitude Alumni member, having served with Altitude Mission during the 2020-2021 season. She is a keen skier with a huge heart for seeing the transformational love of Jesus at work. Throughout her university years she dedicated herself to serving communities in Bristol, in the Alps and in Canada, ministering to students, intoxicated skiers and the staff and guests at summer camp.
With a profound empathy for the vulnerable, Emily is leveraging her law degree to become an agent of change in the anti-slavery sector. She partners her dedication to advocacy and her desire to see justice prevail with her faith.
RYAN LONGMUIR (vice chair)
Ryan Longmuir is the Managing Director and founder of Regis Banqueting Ltd an event catering company based in Cumbernauld, Lanarkshire which began in 2003. Regis’ main business activities include providing catering for business meetings and lunches, contract catering for conference centres and catering for large events from gala dinners, product launches, weddings and private parties. Regis employs 12 full time staff and 30 part time staff with a turnover last year of over £1 million and well on our way to break the £2 million mark. Along with this operates Regis Properties Scotland a commercial property company who own and rent industrial warehouse units and run a business centre with serviced office accommodation.
He is a charismatic and outgoing person who is committed to helping those from a disadvantage background to find hope and a future and make a success of life. A committed Christian and feel motivated to make a real difference in the world. He supports the likes of Princes Trust, Scottish Government, Prison’s, Schools and Colleges providing talks to young people to envision them in business, he has a passion to help people with life controlling addictions to find freedom. He is married to Shirley- Ann who is the love of his life and has 3 children. He is an expert skier and enjoys hitting a golf ball.
Richard Lindley (Treasurer)
A qualified accountant, Richard specialised in tax for most of his career whilst working in senior roles for large multinational companies. Recently retired, his final role was as director of Tax & Treasury for a large global offshore oil drilling group.
He is a trustee of the St Albans Diocesen Board of Finance, sitting on a number of sub-committees including those responsible for the annual budget and the making of grants. He is also a trustee of other local charities In Bedford mostly looking after their finances. He worships at Christ Church Bedford where he has run the church finances for approaching 20 years
and this has included managing the finances of a £2.5m hall redevelopment project. Married with three adult children, he and his wife have been foster carers for over 15 years. A mad skier, who has completed the "Inferno" ski race three times, he also runs and plays bridge.
laura murdoch
Laura is based in London and works for ‘Christians in Sport’ supporting and equipping Christian sports people to live and speak for Christ, and taking the gospel to sports people – young and old. She’s married to Kev who leads Euston Church, and they have 3 lively children who keep them busy!
She’s had the privilege of being involved in several ski trips combining ministry, mission and skiing over the years and counts it a privilege to be a small part of the vision of Altitude mission, that many in the mountains of Meribel and beyond might come to know Jesus for themselves!
Martha inch
Martha is a priest in the Church of England, where she’s part of the chaplaincy team at the University of Exeter. She also plays a key role in a national partnership that trains churches to connect with young people in their communities. Martha is passionate that church should be a place where everyone belongs.
When she’s not working, she enjoys being outdoors, taking her dog for walks, running and playing as much sport as she can. As a big skier, she’s thrilled that Altitude Mission brings the joy of the mountains together with sharing the message of Jesus with everyone they meet. She’s really looking forward to seeing God’s Kingdom flourish in Meribel and beyond.
DANIEL PETRIE
Daniel lives in Lincolnshire and supports his local church as a pastor for small group leaders as well as hosting and discipling a community in his home. Daniel came to faith on the Alpha course in 2013 with his wife Cassie and they are raising 4 school aged children.
His working week includes time in the local Emergency Department working as a GP, over the years he has built up his skills in safeguarding, mental health, coaching and open dialogue which he now brings to support the work of Altitude as the safeguarding trustee. Daniel has enjoyed time in the mountains since his teens and in the summer is often found on the local rivers paddle boarding. He is new to the board in 2026 and hopes to support the next steps in Altitude's mission to build community as Jesus would have done if he lived in the mountains!
Sophie bamber
Having served as an Altituder during the 2023/24 season, Sophie experienced first hand the joy of sharing the life-changing love of Jesus in the mountains. Now based in Northern Ireland, she is delighted to continue supporting Altitude Mission as Board Secretary.
Sophie is passionate about all the behind the scenes work that empower those serving on mission to thrive. She is excited to use her organisational skills to support the Altitude Mission team.
Sophie is a snowboarder at heart but is currently relearning to ski to keep up with her husband, Matt. Whether the mountains or at home, Sophie enjoys traveling, reading and finding new coffee spots to add to her list.
